When I was stationed at Langley Air Force Base from 1978 to 1980, my family came for a visit. I made reservations for a dinner cruise with my parents and grandparents to go down (or up) the river. The boat was not as nice (now they have a cruise line ship), but it still was very memorable and a lot of fun. Well worth the time and not expensive for an enjoyable evening. Weather in Norfolk in September will be gorgeous, so don't delay - make your reservations now...you'll love it!
